She started learning self-production skills on YouTube and on July 18, 2018, she released “Mr. Rebel,” her debut single, a song she composed alone. She released the single “Try Me” on August 7, 2019. DJ Edu chose her as one of the “ten musicians to watch” in 2020.

On April 23, 2020, Tems and superstar musician Davido appeared on a remix of “Know Your Worth,” a song by English electronic duo Disclosure and American singer-songwriter Khalid.

Tems was a guest artist on Wizkid’s fourth studio album, ”Made in Lagos,” which was released on October 30, 2020.
