She spent more than fifteen years primarily working as a background singer. During her stint with Ganyani Entertainment, she contributed vocals to songs including “NTO,” “Jabulile,” and “Emazulwini,” which was nominated for Record of the Year at the SAMA Awards.

After working with Master KG on his 2019 hit single “Jerusalema,” which was later remixed by Burna Boy and debuted at #1 on the Billboard Music charts. she struck a record deal with Open Mic Productions and rose to fame internationally.

The lead song from her album, “Xola Moya Wam,” with Master KG, was released on August 2020. Within the first two weeks, the song received a gold certification from the South African Music Industry. On the Apple Music Chart and the iTunes Chart, the song peaked at No. 1.

On August 2020, she released her first studio album, Xola Moya Wam. After a month of sales, the record received platinum certification. Zikode and Sony/ATV Music struck a global record deal in 2020.

On December 2020, she was awarded the Best Female Artist category at the inaugural KZN Entertainment Awards. ”Xola Moya Wam” was nominated for Best Dance Album at the 27 South African Music Awards. She later embarked on a European tour on July 29, 2021.  Nomcebo Zikode made her cinematic debut in the Love and Hip Hop franchise toward the end of 2021.

Nomcebo Zikode appeared on Master KG’s “Jerusalema” single in November 2019, and after it became popular in the early months of 2020, Burna Boy created a remix. Zikode disclosed on July 11, 2021, that her record company, Open Mic Productions, had not compensated her for her appearance on the song.
