After AKA’s performance on February 10 in a Durban nightclub. Around 10 o’clock that evening, AKA and his friends were waiting outside a restaurant on Florida Road when a hooded assailant approached them and shot Forbes in the head. Meanwhile, the assailant’s accomplice who was standing by AKA’s car then fired additional shots, killing his friend.
