Early Life/Career Beginning
Basketmouth was born Bright Opocha on 14 September 1978 in Lagos state, Nigeria. Originally, he is an indigene of Abia State. He received his preliminary and secondary education in his hometown and later enrolled at the University of Benin, in Edo State, Nigeria, where he studied Sociology and Anthropology.
He realized his dexterity in playing the drums in 1991 and in 1994, he started out as a rapper. With seven other rappers plus himself, he formed a rapping group called “Da Psychophats” they went around touring and making performances at social events, they later disbanded without the release of any material.
Together with his brother Godwin and Muyiwa Ola-Phillips, Basketmouth started another rap group called “Da Oddz”. They went on doing a couple of shows but their performances were underrated.
Music Career
In 2014, Basketmouth launched a record label named Barons World Entertainment, in 2020, he dropped a Highlife album titled ”Yabasi” as a soundtrack for the movie ‘Papa Benji’. He dropped another album titled Horoscope, this album featured lots of popular Nigerian artists in it.
Personal Relationship
Basketmouth got married to his wife Elsie Uzoma Okpocha on 6 November 2010, together they have two children named Janelle Okpocha and Jason Okpocha.
