Adele Emily Sandé was born on 10 March 1987 she is known professionally by the name; Emeli Sandé. She is a Scottish singer and songwriter who was born in Sunderland to an English mother, Diane Sandé-Wood, and a Zambian father,  Joel Sandé, she was raised in Alford Aberdeenshire.

At the age of 11, Emeli wrote her first song for her primary school talent show. Emeli Sandé has confirmed several times that she always wanted to be a musician. The first song that Emeli Sande ever wrote was called Tomorrow Starts Again”. At 15 years old, Emeli was invited by Choice FM to take part in the “Rapology” competition, and she was also invited by Richard Blackwood to Camden Studios to sing a gospel song, this happened to be her first career appearance.

She turned down a record deal with Telstar at the age of 16 in order to attend college so that she could have a backup career in case music failed. Emeli studied medicine at the University of Glasgow, she eventually left after obtaining a clinical medicine in neuroscience degree.

She performed at the White House in Washington DC in 2013 during the award ceremony where President Obama present the Library of Congress Gershwin Medal to Carole King. Emeli released her second album in 2016, she wrote some of the songs on the album including “Call Me What You Like”, “You and Me’, “This Much Is True”, ‘Pluto”, and “Enough”.

Sande’s success/popularity grew rather fast, especially in the UK and the US. In 2014, she joined Band Aid 30 alongside other British and Irish Acts, they recorded a track “Do they Know its Christmas?” to raise money for the Ebola Crisis of 2014 in West Africa.

The album was released on the proposed date and the album debuted at number 2 on the UK album chart. In 2017, Sandé gave her Long Live the Angels Tour which was her first tour that include Arena dates. In 2017, she received the Brit Awards’ Best British Female Solo Artist award, this was her fourth win, she was also awarded a BASCA Gold Badge award in recognition of her contributions to music.

Emeli released her third album in 2019, and some tracks from the album had already been released early in anticipation of the album itself. Emeli left the EMI record Label and signed a deal with Independent Record Lable Chrysalis Records in 2021. Emeli released a promotional single “Brighter Days” to announce the release of her fourth album in 2022. The album “Let’s Say For Instance” was later released in May 2022; the album received positive reviews from the media.
